Spring 2009
Dear Friends,
Many thanks to everyone who made West End’s 20th Anniversary Fundraising Event a night to remember! It was a wonderful way to celebrate West End Intergenerational Residence’s two decades of service on the Upper West Side, especially as we look forward to expanding our organization with the True Colors Residence, on which we will break ground in Central Harlem this year. For the past 20 years, the invaluable support of our contributors helped us provide housing and essential services to over 2,000 young families and older adults, and we are confident that the ongoing dedication of supporters like you will help us continue to provide high-quality assistance and care for years to come.
Our sincerest thanks go to everyone who continues to support the efforts of West End and made our 20th Anniversary Celebration a success - especially Master of Ceremonies Carson Kressley who charmed every West End supporter who crossed his path, Awards Presenter and True Colors Partner Cyndi Lauper who ended the night with inspiring words and a moving impromptu performance, and our honorees Frank J. Cracolici and Keith Boykin and junior honorees Elijah King and Danielle Lippman, whose hard work and dedication are an inspiration. Special thanks also goes to Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer who made a surprising and exciting announcement that West End has been awarded a $500,000 capital funding grant from his office for the construction of the True Colors Residence.
There are also many others who made our Fundraising Celebration possible. Please click here for a list of the evening’s contributors. Click here to see pictures from the evening.
West End continues to look forward to a busy summer. Our older adults, mothers and staff are hard at work coming up with ideas for the next round of Women’s Empowerment Programs and enjoying all that summer in New York City has to offer.
Though our celebration raised much needed funds, we still need your support! Budget cuts continue to threaten the programming necessary to the stability of our vulnerable young families and older adults. If you haven’t already done so, please consider making a contribution to West End this summer.
Sincerely,

Colleen K. Jackson
Executive Director
